An original RIAA Gold Single Award for Prince’s 1984 hit “Purple Rain”.  Prince himself gave this to the late Don Thorin, the cinematographer of Prince’s film Purple Rain.  Years later Thorin gave it to a close friend, from whom we obtained it. Thorin was a well known director of photography who also shot An Officer and a Gentleman, Against All Odds, Scent of a Woman and Shaft.

This original and unrestored gold record award is in excellent condition, with only some very light scuffing to the plexiglass.  The original backing paper is intact.  While many record awards offered online are later reproductions or worse, this is an absolutely genuine original award with exceptional provenance.
