George Harrison – 1974 Dark Horse Tour Medallion (Given to tour members)
An ultra rare George Harrison ‘Dark Horse’ 1974 tour medallion, given to key tour members.
As noted in Wikipedia, George Harrison and Ravi Shankar’s 1974 North American tour was a 45-show concert tour of the United States and Canada…in November and December 1974. It is often referred to as the Dark Horse Tour, since the concerts served as a launch for Harrison’s record label Dark Horse Records, to which Shankar was one of the inaugural signings, and Harrison’s concurrent single was the song “Dark Horse”…The 1974 tour was the first in North America by a former member of the Beatles since the band’s 1966 visit…[and] marked the first live performances by Harrison since his successful staging of the 1971 Concert for Bangladesh shows.
The medallion looks to be made of silver; as the only other example we’ve seen looked to be brass, perhaps Harrison had them made in different metals for different recipients. It measures 1 1/16″ in diameter, and is in excellent condition.
One side has the Dark Horse logo; the other reads ‘George Harrison Tour 1974’ above an Om sign, below which are the words ‘Tat Twam Asi’ (Sanskrit for ‘thou art that’, in Hinduism, the famous expression of the relationship between the individual and the Absolute.)
An impossibly rare George Harrison collectible from his only US solo tour. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
