A Cid Syphony – Psychedelic Concert Poster & Letter to Ralph Gleason

An extraordinary San Francisco psychedelic artifact–an ultra rare concert poster for Dusty Miller’s A Cid Symphony with The Loading Zone at Berkeley’s Pauley Ballroom in April 1967.

This is the only A Cid Symphony poster we can find evidence of, and we’ve could find no other example online. To make matters more interesting, this has a letter on the back from A Cid Symphony leader Dustin “Dusty” Miller written to legendary San Francisco Chronicle music critic Ralph J. Gleason. We’d guess from the content here and the two pinholes at the top that Miller came to Gleason’s house and when he wasn’t home, pinned this on the door.

The letter reads “To RJG et al, You are invited to attend this happening. We fully expect a riot–or perhaps just a declaration of the revolution. The Puppy you gave me, H, was killed by a case obj my way up here. I loved him very much. If your…hell, what can I say–Dustin Miller.” There are some numbers written on the back in the same pen, probably by Miller, as well. The poster is in near excellent condition with some light handling and faint creasing, but nothing remotely serious. Incredibly rare and a great association. 14 3/4″ X 22″
