Aretha Franklin – Signed Contract For Network Television Debut
A contract signed by Aretha Franklin for her prime-time network television debut on the Kraft Music Hall, dated November 1967. This was a pivotal year for Franklin, during which she released her first two Atlantic albums and had her first two hits, “I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You), which hit #2 in the R&B charts and” “Respect,” which was #1 in both the pop and R&B charts. Kraft Music Hall was a popular variety program which aired on NBC radio and television from 1933 to 1971. Franklin has autographed her name and written her telephone number and social security number (deleted in the scan here.) The contract measures 8 1/2″ x 11″ and is in excellent condition, with some missing paper in the top left corner. The only signed Aretha contract we have ever offered.
