Blind Faith – Very Rare True UK 1st Pressing “Blind Faith” LP
A barely played true UK first pressing of Blind Faith, the sole album by the Eric Clapton/Ginger Baker/Steve Winwood/Rick Gretch supergroup on Polydor. On the very rare earliest 1969 pressings of Blind Faith, the front of the gatefold cover (the left side when opened) is a single sheet of paper, printed on both sides, while the back cover (the right side when opened) is made up of two sheets glued together, with an opening on the right edge so the disc can be inserted. And only the earliest discs have textured labels. Very soon after the album’s release, it was repressed with a double weight cover on both sides and smooth glossy labels.
The cover is in Near Mint condition, with a very light ink line on the back (the controversial cover for Blind Faith is regarded as one of the greatest album covers of all time, and is certainly the first on a rock album to have no writing on the front or back.) The disc looks as if it’s been played only once or twice, and plays perfectly, but has” bag rash” on the A-Side (“bag rash” is the wavy lines and white mottling sometimes found on UK albums originally packaged in poly lined innersleeves, as was Blind Faith. The poly innersleeve lining occasionally reacted with the surface of the disc over many years of storage.) Again, this disc plays mint on both sides; the bag rash is only a visual issue on the A-Side ( the B-Side looks mint.)
A scarce and sought after album (and a superb one as well.)
