Bo Diddley – 1963 UK “Bo Diddley” LP, Signed by Diddley, Jerome Green & The Duchess, with Lifetime Guarantee
A UK first pressing of Bo Diddley’s 1963 self-titled album on Pye Records, signed by Bo Diddley, Jerome Green and “The Duchess” (Norma-Jean Wofford)–his full band during his 1963 UK tour, during which this was signed. Jerome Green, who played maracas, signs his name, while Diddley signs and adds “1963” and The Duchess writes “From Bo sister! Duchess “1963” R.M.A.”. We don’t know the meaning of those three letters, but The Duchess, who played rhythm guitar, sang back up, and danced, was rumored to be Bo’s half-sister or sister. The weren’t actually related, but Diddley started the rumor because he considered her to be close enough to qualify as family–and because it put him in a better position to protect her on the road.
The laminated front/flipback album cover and disc are both in Very Good++ condition. A rare vintage signed album with Diddley’s classic lineup. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
