Bo Diddley – 1966 Signed Family Dog/Avalon Ballroom Contract FD-18 & 20

An ultra rare original American Federation of Musician’s contract signed by Bo Diddley for shows promoted by The Family Dog at the Avalon Ballroom and the Longshoreman’s Hall, in July and August 1966.

With this contract, Bo Diddley agrees to play shows on July 28, 29 & 30 at the Avalon Ballroom (with Quicksilver Messenger Service; the poster for these is “The Voice of Music” known as FD-18) and August 4,5 & 6 at the Avalon and Longshoreman’s Hall (with Little Walter and Sons of Adam; the poster the rare “Five Men in a Boat”, FD-20.)

Diddley agreed to play three 45 minute shows per night, with his 4 piece band. Diddley signed in blue ballpoint pen, as does booker Howard Wolf on behalf of the Family Dog. This is the only Family Dog concert contract we’ve seen, and it’s for very early and historic shows. In excellent condition with one staple in the top right corner.
