A rare 1962 stereo promotional copy of Bob Dylan’s self-titled debut album, with the earliest Columbia Records ‘six-eye’ labels, and the scarce “A New Star On Columbia Records” round sticker.

Columbia changed their record labels to a solid red design a month or two after the release of Dylan’s first album, making the black and red “six-eye” first pressings extremely desirable. Dylan was a virtual unknown when this album was released and it sold very poorly. Stereo records were just being introduced at this time, selling primarily to the audiophile market, and costing $1.00 more than mono records.  As a result, very few stereo first pressings of Dylan’s debut were made.

This is a promotional copy, with the “New Star” sticker on the front, a Demonstration/Not For Sale stamp on the back, and a promo sticker on the Side 2 label.  The disc is in NM–/EX+ condition and looks shiny and barely played.  It plays beautifully, with a barely audible tick through about 1/3 of “House of the Rising Son” but no other issues.   The original cover with the number 4 in the lower right corner is in NM- condition, with some very very light wear, but no issues at all.  The original orange Columbia Records innersleeve is included.

A very clean stereo copy of the first Dylan album released anywhere in the world.
