Bob Dylan – 1963 Rare Decca Contract 1st Pressing ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’ LP – Mint/Mint, Guaranteed High Fidelity

An exceedingly rare 1963 mono Decca contract first pressing of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, with the earliest Guaranteed High Fidelity labels, in Mint/Near Mint condition.

We’ve specialized in Dylan rarities for fifty years, and have never seen this before.  Normal Columbia Records pressings have a pressing ring 5/8″ inside the label perimeter.  This contract pressing doesn’t have the typical ring, and instead has a 1″ pressing ring around the spindle hole. The stamper numbers are 3AA/ 2K, with an extra ‘G’ stamped on both sides.

We solved the mystery by consulting, which notes ‘copies with separate “G” coding in the deadwax were custom-pressed by Decca Records (Gloversville plant.)’

The disc is in Mint condition and looks unplayed, and the cover is in Near Mint condition.  [The album plays the correct tracks]
