Bob Dylan – 1966 Norfolk, VA Concert Handbill
A beautiful handbill advertising Bob Dylan’s February 12, 1966 concert at the Norfolk, Virginia Municipal Auditorium. Backed by The Hawks, later to become The Band, this show took place at a pivotal moment in what many consider Dylan’s most creative period.
This show was part of a burst of touring that saw Dylan perform throughout North America, Europe and Australia. Two days after this concert Dylan returned to Nashville, for the second-to-last recording sessions for Blonde on Blonde. At the end of March, Dylan played a show in Vancouver, B.C., which turned out to be his last show in North America for almost 8 years.
April saw the release of his single “Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35/Pledging My Time” and the beginning of his World Tour in Sydney, on the 13th. On May 17, the day after Blonde on Blonde was released, he played the Manchester Free Trade Hall (mistakenly bootlegged as the Royal Albert Hall show) and on the 27th of that month, he did play the Albert Hall– his last proper concert until the 1974 comeback tour with The Band. And on July 29, Dylan crashed his motorcycle in Woodstock NY, the beginning of a long period of seclusion.
This classic handbill is in mint condition, as as with everything we offer, guaranteed authentic with no time limit. 6 x 9″
