Bob Dylan – ‘My Back Pages’ 8″ Acetate From Warner Bros. Music Publishing Company
An 8″ acetate of Bob Dylan’s classic ‘My Back Pages’, cut for Warner Bros Music, his music publishing company.
This is a demonstration record, made to present to artists or record producers who might be interested in recording a version of one of Dylan’s songs. Dylan originally signed to Warner Bros.’s subsidiary, M.Witmark & Company, and as some point in the late 60s, Warner Bros. merged its music publishing companies into one company, Warner Bros. Music. This disc, probably from the early 1970s, plays the commercially released version of the song.
In Near Mint- condition. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity, signed by Jeff Gold, who appraised The Bob Dylan Archive, for Dylan’s management.
From Wikipedia: Bob Dylan wrote “My Back Pages” in 1964 as one of the last songs—perhaps the last song—composed for his Another Side of Bob Dylan album. He recorded it on June 9, 1964, under the working title of “Ancient Memories”, the last song committed to tape for the album. The song was partly based on the traditional folk song “Young But Growing” and has a mournful melody similar to that of “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” from Dylan’s previous album, The Times They Are a-Changin’. As with the other songs on Another Side, Dylan is the sole musician on “My Back Pages” and plays in a style similar to his previous protest songs, with a sneering, rough-edged voice and a hard-strumming acoustic guitar accompaniment.
