Bob Dylan – 1965 English Tour Concert Poster / Tour Blank
A very rare ‘tour blank’ concert poster from Bob Dylan’s 1965 English tour. The tour was documented by filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, for his documentary Don’t Look Back.
These posters would have been posted by local promoters on walls and constructions sites, with information about their specific shows posted underneath or alongside (called ‘wildposting’ or ‘sniping’–street lever advertising, usually done by crews in the middle of the night without permission.)
This poster, featuring Daniel Kramer’s iconic photograph of Dylan, is virtually identical to tour blanks made for Dylan’s 1965 US tour, which included a blank white space below the image, where local promoters could print the information for their dates. An equivalent poster from the US tour, with the information printed below, would sell for $25,000. or more (see last image for reference.)
We have only had this poster once before, that copy originating from the collection of Ken Pitt, Dylan’s UK publicist from 1964-1966.
Printed on the thin stock, textured on the back, as typically used for UK posters made to be sniped. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
In Near Mint condition; 13 1/2″ x 18 1/8″; framed to 15 1/2″ x 20″.
(Image of US poster with tour dates provided for reference only, this poster is not included.)
