Buffalo Springfield – Unreleased “Stampede” Album Cover Slick (Neil Young, Stephen Stills)

A very rare 1967 album cover slick for Buffalo Springfield’s unreleased Stampede album. Stampede was to be the Springfield’s second album, and Atco Records went as far as shooting an album cover and printing a limited number of cover slicks.  But strife among the band members, primarily Neil Young and Steven Stills, and issues with the group’s management derailed the planned album. The band eventually regrouped and finished a second album, Buffalo Springfield Again, but Stampede was abandoned.

This original slick is in Near Mint condition, and is by far the nicest we’ve ever seen.  15 3/8″ x 13 1/2.” A  scarce and sought after Springfield and Neil Young collectible.  (Note: after a marijuana bust, bass player Bruce Palmer was stuck in Canada when album cover was shot, so road manager Dickie Davis acted as his stand-in, with a hat covering his face!)
