Charlie Parker – 1955 Boxing-Style Concert Handbill from the Open Door, NYC
An extraordinarily rare 1955 boxing-style handbill advertising a performance by saxophone giant Charlie Parker and His All Stars, at the Open Door in New York City. This boxing-style handbill promotes a show by “Bird” in his adopted hometown, only two months before his tragic death at age 34. Charlie Parker concert handbills are exceedingly rare, and this one is a beauty, in in mint condition, other than “55” written neatly in pen in the bottom right corner. 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.
