Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, etc. – 1949 Paris International Festival of Jazz Handbill
A very rare handbill advertising the 1949 Paris Festival International de Jazz, presented in part by the Hot Club de Paris. This legendary event saw the leading lights of the recent Bebop movement (Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Kenny Dorham, Max Roach, Tad Dameron, Kenny Clarke) playing alongside legendary swing and traditional musicians (Sidney Bechet, Pete Johnson, Hot Lips Page, Rex Stewart, Jimmy McParland) and the best of Europe’s jazz players (Django Reinhart, Toots Thielemans, Vic Lewis, etc).
The front side lists the performers, while the back details the eight day schedule, ticket prices, and other information. In very good condition, with flattened folds from having been folded in quarters, light toning, and a 1/8″ edge tear on the left side of the horizontal fold.
