Charlie Parker – Signed Cash Receipt & Photograph, With 2 COA’s
A receipt for a $20 advance signed by Bebop giant Charlie Parker. Dated October 7, 1950, Parker signs beautifully at the bottom in blue ink. Parker died in 1955 and his autograph is probably the most sought after of all jazz musicians.
This rare signed receipt was signed for Parker’s manager, Teddy Blume, and originally sold by Parker’s widow Chan at the Christie’s, London sale of Charlie Parker memorabilia in September 1994. On the back is a laundry list in an unknown hand–perhaps Blume’s. We obtained this receipt from Norman Saks, the foremost Charlie Parker collector in the world. It is pictured in the book “Charlie Parker & Jazz Club Memorabilia: The Norman R. Saks Collection” by Ken Vale.
Also included is an 8″ x 10″ photograph of Charlie Parker, suitable for framing with the I.O.U. With Norman Saks’ signed letter of authenticity, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
