Count Basie / Duke Ellington – 1957 Birdland Handbill
A scarce handbill advertising March 1957 shows by Count Basie and his 16 Piece Orchestra at the legendary New York club Birdland, the “jazz corner of the world”. Also advertised are shows by Oscar Pettiford and his 13 Piece Orchestra, Duke Ellington and His Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson & the Birdland Dream Band and others. Birdland handbills are extremely rare and collectible, and Basie was one of the artists most closely associated with the club.
In excellent condition with two horizontal mailing folds, a set of staple holes in the top left corner, and a stamp from the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies on the back. 6″ x 9″.
