David Bowie – Original “Dress Cover” Man Who Sold The World LP
An ultra rare UK first pressing of David Bowie’s THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD album on Mercury, with the legendary “dress cover.” This is an absolutely genuine first pressing with the stamped matrix number disc and textured cover, the misspelled production credit for “Tonny Visconti” (instead of Tony,) and the full uncropped photo of Bowie wearing his “man’s dress” designed by Mr. Fish of London. We bought our first copy of this in 1973 and it was extremely rare then, only two years after it’s release. The all important cover is in VG++ condition with some light wear, but overall in very nice condition, with no tears, seam splits or writing. The disc is in VG+ condition with numerous very light marks (nothing feelable;) it plays very well, with very minor surface noise in the very quietest moments and a very few pops–but no jumps or skips of course. Overall a fine listening experience. A very rare and highly collectible LP–and one of Bowie’s very best albums.
