David Bowie – Ultra Rare 1972 ‘Ziggy Stardust’ RCA Press Kit + 5 Promo Photos

An astoundingly rare August 1972 RCA Records US press biography promoting David Bowie’s just released album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, along with five RCA promotional photographs of Bowie from the same time.

Titled Magnificent Outrage, the six pages include Bowie’s ‘vital statistics,’ noting his earlier groups The Lower Third and Buzz, his Deram debut album, which they mistakenly title ‘Love You Till Tuesday.’  Early press for the just released Ziggy album is noted–‘A stunning work of genius (Circus), ‘The Elvis of the 70s’ (Lillian Roxon of N.Y. News) and ‘David Bowie is one bitch of a Rocker’ (Words & Music).  Truly prophetic is the quote from the New York Times’ Nancy Erlich–‘The day will come when David Bowie is a star and the crushed remains of his melodies are broadcast from Muzak boxes in every elevator and hotel lobby in town.’  Also featured are short bios of the Spiders From Mars.

Also included are five RCA promotional photographs dating from 1972.

Biography and photos 8″ x 10″.  All in excellent to near mint condition.

The only example we’ve seen of Magnificent Outrage in decades of Bowie collecting.
