The Doors – White Matte Gold Record Presented to The Doors for “Hello I Love You”

An extremely rare 1968 “white matte” style gold record for the #1 single “Touch Me” presented to the Doors.

While vintage gold records presented to an artist are very scarce, this one has impeccable provenance; it comes from the personal collection of longtime Doors manager Bill Siddons, and originally hung in the Doors Hollywood offices.  Siddons writes in the accompanying letter of authenticity “I, Bill Siddons, was the manager of the Doors from January 1968 through October 1972.  The gold record award for “Hello I Love You” was owned by me and hung at the Doors office at 8512 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles 90069, for the duration of our leasing that space.”

“White matte” gold records are the most sought-after of all record awards, and authentic ones presented to a band or artist are the ultimate award collectible.  We acquired this directly from Bill Siddons, who has had it in his collection since it was presented in 1968.  The award is completely original; the disc is very slightly tipped and has some light scratching, probably from the glass breaking; we’d guess the glass was replaced at some point.  The matte in the center of the disc is a bit discolored and there is a small faint moisture stain at the bottom of the matte near the center. The frame has the usual light wear, and most of the original backing paper is present, with the rare New York Frame and Picture Company sticker.

We’re proud to offer this extraordinary Doors collectible, with impeccable provenance.
