A twice signed and initialed contract between Elvis and the William Morris Agency; January 31, 1956; his first contract to be represented as a national touring attraction. On January 28 Presley first appeared on national television, on the Dorsey Brothers "Stage Show." This performance generated a lot of heat, and three days later (the day after he recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" in his first NY session) Presley signed contracts with Morris to be represented exclusively as a touring artist and aspiring actor. At this point Presley was just one of many promising young singers–he had recently left Sun Records and his first RCA single had just been released. This contract gives Morris the rights to book him except for "fairs, one-nighters, and engagements customarily handled directly" by Presley's manager, Col. Tom Parker. It also excludes his existing commitments with the Lousiana Hayride and the Dorsey Brothers show.
