Fairport Convention – 1970 New York Poster / A&M Records Press Party Invitation
An impossibly rare small poster inviting members of the media to meet Fairport Convention at A&M Records’ New York headquarters, on December 29, 1970. Fairport’s current album was Full House, released in July of that year, and event was to promote the band and album. This beautiful small poster features the following clever text:
Sirrah: You are one of the selected few to get this offer to tie one on with A&M Records’ Fairport Convention Tuesday, December 29th, at 6 p.m.. Please bring plenty aspirin…because Fairport’s gonna drink you under the table. Australian Lager and food will be served. The place: A&M Records, 1855 Broadway. Sincerely, Bob Garcia, A&M Records Director of Savory Hype. RSVP Bobby (Macho) Cortez.
9″ x 12 3/4″, in mint condition. The only example of this rare poster we’ve seen.
