Frank Zappa – Handwritten Musical Manuscript For “The Rejected Mexican Pope Leaves The Stage”

An original five page musical manuscript written entirely by Frank Zappa, for “The Rejected Mexican Pope Leaves the Stage”, which appears on the Mothers of Invention live album Ahead of Their Time! (recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London on October 25, 1968 and released by Barking Pumpkin in 1993.)All of the dense musical notation, numbers and words here are in the hand of Zappa; this is a remarkable look into the working methods of one of the most acclaimed musicians and composers of the rock era.  Each of the manuscript’s five pages measure 12 1/4″ x 9 1/4″.  Pages 1-3 are written on three of four pages in a folded sheaf of music folio paper.  Pages 4 and 5 are written on an identical separate sheaf (there is a virtually unnoticeable archival repair to the back of this second sheet, reinforcing the middle fold.  The repaired side has no writing on it).

Zappa handwritten musical compositions are rare indeed, and this has perfect provenance, coming from the collection of Marty Perellis (Zappa’s road manager during the early 1970’s.) A rare insight into the mind of a genius.

With Recordmecca’s lifetime guarantee of authenticity.  (The copyright on this composition is the intellectual property of the Zappa estate; we are selling this only as Zappa memorabilia.)
