Grateful Dead – “Blue Rose” 1978 Poster Signed By Mouse & Kelley
A virtually mint condition first printing of the legendary “Blue Rose” concert poster, advertising a New Year’s Eve 1978 show at San Francisco’s Winterland Auditorium, featuring the Grateful Dead, the Blues Brothers and New Riders of the Purple Sage (followed by a dawn breakfast.) This is one of the most sought after Dead posters, with art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, who have boldly signed this example in gold paint pen, at the bottom. It is reproduced on a full page in the definitive reference book, The Art of Rock. The first edition of this often reprinted poster is identified by the size (19 1/8″ x 28 3/8″), the thick poster stock, and the bright yellow color to the left and right of the central rose. This example is in near mint condition and looks virtually perfect (there is a difficult to see very light scratch below/through the word “Blues”, and we had some very minor expert retouching done to a now invisible crease in the bottom left corner.) In a frame this will look stone mint.
