Grateful Dead – Jerry Garcia-Owned ‘Europe ’72’ Test Pressings / 3 LP’s, With Perfect Provenance, 2 Letters of Authenticity (Artist Owned)
Jerry Garcia’s personal test pressings of the Grateful Dead’s 1972 live triple album, Europe ’72. These test pressings were sold by Garcia’s widow, Deborah Koons Garcia, at a Bonhams auction of Garcia’s personal property.
Wikipedia notes the album, recorded during the band’s 1972 tour of Western Europe “was expensive and logistically complicated, and the band’s record company hoped that a live album would recoup its costs. Consequently, the entire tour was recorded, with highlights making it onto the final release. Europe ’72 is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums by the Dead…and has since been certified double platinum.”
The three discs are each in Near Mint condition, and housed in their original generic white sleeves with “Grateful Dead” and the catalog numbers mimeographed on one side. “Label copy” sheets for discs one and three are included.
With a letter from Bonhams confirming the these were ‘formerly the property of Jerry Garcia’, the original Bonhams exhibition card and tags, copies of the relevant catalog pages, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
An extraordinary Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead collectible, from the personal collection of the man himself.
