Grateful Dead – Mickey Hart – Fillmore East Concert Used Drum Brushes

A pair of Mickey Hart's drum brushes, used at the Fillmore East in September 1970, and sold at the Rock Relics auction, the first ever rock memorabilia sale. On October 12, 1970 Bill Graham held the Rock Relics auction at the Fillmore East, selling rock and roll memorabilia to raise funds for the "advertising campaigns of the 1970 peace candidates." Graham and the Fillmore staff solicited donations from the artists who played the Fillmores, and others they had relationships with. This was the first-ever sale of rock memorabilia, and is a legendary event in the field. This pair of Mickey Hart's (of the Grateful Dead) drum brushes was used during a 3 day run at the Fillmore East (September 17-20) and donated by Hart, to be sold 2 weeks later at Rock Relics. Included is the auction lot tag, signed by Bill Graham himself, and with details of the donation date. Also included is an original Fillmore East program from the Dead concerts these brushes were used at, and a Fillmore East handbill, with ads for upcoming shows on one side (including the Dead show; 2 shows circled in pen) and an ad for the Rock Relics auction on the reverse (all items have been well used and have wear.) An extremely rare Dead vintage collectible, with provenance from the most legendary of all memorabilia sales. We have never seen any other item from Rock Relics on the market.
