Hank Williams – Signed 1950 “Country Hit Parade” Songbook
A 1950 Hank Williams songbook, Country Hit Parade, signed boldly in ballpoint pen on the front cover by Williams.
The 52 page songbook features lyrics and music for 20 songs, including classics such as “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, and “Lost Highway”, and numerous photographs.
Colin Escott’s award winning biography , I Saw the Light: The Story of Hank Williams, notes “Hank supplemented his income in various ways…Songbooks were an even better business [than sheet music sales]…and Hank doubled his money by selling many of those himself. The band typically went out into the crowd and sold song folios and photographs for commission during intermission. The usual asking price for photos was fifty cents and Hank would sign them for that price”. It’s very likely this songbook was signed at one of his concerts.
Signed boldly in the sweet spot in black ballpoint pen. In overall excellent condition, 9″ x 11 3/4″. This has been authenticated by music autograph expert Roger Epperson, and his letter of authenticity is included. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
