Ian Dury – Original Typed/Handwritten Lyrics For “Sink My Boats”
British punk/new wave singer and songwriter Ian Dury’s original typed and hand annotated lyrics for his song “Sink My Boats.” “Sink My Boats” appeared on Ian Dury and The Blockheads’ 1979 album “Do It Yourself”; however it originally dates from his earlier band, Kilburn and the High Roads. It was the first song Dury wrote with his longtime collaborator, Chaz Jankel. This manuscript has notes in pen in Dury’s hands detailing vocal arrangements, and notes in another hand in pencil (perhaps Jankel’s) including “Al Green feel.” The accompanying letter of authenticity from music historian Johan Kugelberg notes this lyric page was originally given by Dury to his girlfriend in the early 70’s, celebrated photographer Roberta Bayley. A rare and unusual peek into the mind of a truly inspired artist. As with everything we offer, guaranteed authentic without time limit.
