James Brown – Stage-Worn Monogrammed Boots With Lifetime Guarantee
An extraordinary pair of custom-made patent leather boots, each with the sewn on initials JB, owned and stage worn by the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.
Each of these handmade boots, lined in leather and suede, have a zipper on the inside, and Brown’s initials sewn onto the outside below the buckle. The soles exhibit significant wear, consistent with Brown’s legendary acrobatic footwork.
James Brown donated these boots to a Cleveland charity auction in the 1970s; we purchased them from the auction winner.
The boots are nearly identical to another pair of Brown’s boots featured on the television program Pawn Stars (sixth photo) and a pair exhibited at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles (last photo.)
In 2007 Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold appraised James Brown’s stage costumes and personal property at his home in Augusta, GA. Recordmecca’s letter of authenticity and lifetime guarantee, signed by Gold, will note this and reflect the provenance.
A truly iconic collectible from the man who invented Soul.
