James Brown – Stage-Worn Monogrammed Boots With Lifetime Guarantee
A pair of custom-made monogrammed patent leather boots, owned and worn on stage by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. These handmade boots are lined in leather and suede, with Brown’s initials sewn into the side of each below the buckle. The soles exhibit significant wear, consistent with Brown’s legendary acrobatic footwork.
These boots, along with a stage worn outfit (also available from Recordmecca) were donated to a Cleveland charity auction in the 1970’s. We purchased them from the auction’s winner. They are identical to a pair exhibited at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, and another pair featured on the television program “Pawn Stars” (see photos).
In 2007 Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold evaluated James Brown’s stage costumes and personal property on site at his home in Augusta, GA. Recordmecca’s letter of authenticity and lifetime guarantee, signed by Gold, is included. A truly iconic collectible from the man who invented Soul.
