Janis Joplin – Autograph with Letter of Provenance
A Holiday Inn napkin/placemat signed "Love, Janis Joplin," with a letter from the original autograph seeker detailing her encounter with Joplin. On December 7, 1969 Janis Joplin performed at the Baltimore Civic Center. Leslie Martin was working as a banquet waitress at the Baltimore Holiday Inn, where Joplin was staying. In her letter accompanying this autograph, she details how she ran into Janis in a hall, while drinking a Coke. Janis grabbed the Coke out of her hand, took a sip, spit it out and said "Where's The Jack" (Daniels.) Martin asked for an autograph for her sister, and Janis waited while she located a pen and paper. Authentic Janis autographs are extremely rare, while fakes abound. This is the real deal, with a great letter from the original recipient. Also included is a reprint of an article about the show the Baltimore Examiner, and our written lifetime guarantee. Paper 9 1/2" x 7". (Note: letter of provenance continues on back side, and Leslie Martin's address appears on it–we have removed it from the scan to protect her privacy.) SOLD
