Grace Slick – Original Lyrics to her 1965 Lenny Bruce Tribute, “Father Bruce” (Recorded by the Great Society, her Pre-Jefferson Airplane Group)
Grace Slick’s typed and hand annotated lyrics for her Lenny Bruce tribute song “Father Bruce”, written while lead singer for the Great Society, prior to her joining the Jefferson Airplane. We acquired these from her first manager and music publisher, Howard Wolf, who writes in an accompanying letter of authenticity:
Lead Sheet to “Father Bruce” written by Grace Slick. When I first heard Grace Slick sing, she was in the group The Great Society, at the small club ‘Mothers’ in San Francisco’s North Beach, in October 1965. She sang this song and it was one of several things that peaked my interest in the group. When I was putting a record deal together for the Great Society on Columbia Records, Grace gave me this lead sheet to use. As a fan of Lenny Bruce and this song being a tribute to him, it was special to me. Howard B. Wolf.
An extraordinary Grace Slick/Jefferson Airplane collectible, with Wolf’s Letter of Authenticity, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
