Jim Morrison (The Doors) – Original Handwritten Poem and Joel Brodsky Photograph
A Jim Morrison handwritten poem and an original black and white photograph of the singer by Joel Brodsky, the photographer most closely associated with The Doors.
The poem, titled Tape Noon, is from one of Morrison’s journals found in the legendary 127 Fascination box (if you don’t know the story, read it here). Morrison titled a number of poems Tape Noon, and it’s not known whether he intended to merge them into a single work, or if they were meant to be a series of poems.
This poem appears in the 1991 book The American Night: The Writings of Jim Morrison Volume 2 (Vantage/Random House), with another Tape Noon poem sequenced after it. It is written on a sequentially numbered journal page measuring 7 1/8″ x 11 5/8″, and the lack of writing on the back strongly suggests this was a discreet work.
Also included is an original 11″ x 14″ photograph of Jim Morrison circa 1967 by Joel Brodsky, who photographed The Doors for nine of their album covers. The undated print came from the estate of Pamela Ashley, the world’s foremost collector Jim Morrison memorabilia and photographs, and was clearly made from the original negative. The print is in near mint condition.
The poem has been authenticated by music memorabilia autograph expert Roger Epperson, and comes with his letter of authenticity, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. A truly museum quality collectible with a beautiful photograph to frame with it.
