Jimi Hendrix – 1st Printing Shrine Auditorium 1968 Concert Poster AOR 3.72

An extremely rare untrimmed first printing of John Van Hamersveld’s classic concert poster for The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Soft Machine, Electric Flag and Blue Cheer at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on February 10, 1968.  This rare poster is made all the more unusual as this example is untrimmed with a 3/8″ to 1/2″ border, with  printers crosshatch marks at the top corners–it’s either a printer’s proof or an untrimmed example.  In either case, we’ve never seen another like it.

The poster is printed on the same thick paper stock as all first printings, and measures 20 3/4″ x 28 5/8″.  It’s in overall excellent condition with the even toning you find on most examples that have been exposed to natural light.  There are a number of unobtrusive pinholes in the border, two faint scratches in the left-hand blue edge near the top, and a faint bit of moisture staining at the bottom edge (see close up.)

A possibly unique example of a rare and highly collectible Hendrix poster.
