Jimi Hendrix Experience – 1970 Mono ‘Lover Man’ 7″ Acetate / A. Schroeder Music Publishing

A rare circa 1972 mono acetate of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s live track ‘Lover Man’.

Cut by Hendrix’s U.S. and U.K. music publisher, A. Schroeder Music Corp., this 7″disc bears the name of Hendrix’s second music publishing company, Bella Godiva Music Inc.

As the book Hendrix: Setting the Record Straight explains, in 1968 Hendrix was becoming mistrustful of his manager Michael Jeffery, and his music publishers Abby and Aaron Schroeder ‘set up Bella Godiva (so named by Jimi), a new publishing company separate from Jeffery to replace Yameta-Sea Lark.’

Yameta was a Bahamian tax shelter corporation set up for The Animals. Jeffery managed that band as well, and their founding bassist Chas Chandler produced and co-managed The Hendrix Experience.

Yameta licensed Hendrix’s music publishing rights to A. Schroeder Music Corp.

This live version of ‘Lover Man’ appears on the 1972 album Hendrix In The West, though it has never been released in mono, as on this disc.

In VG++ condition.
