Jimi Hendrix – Mint UK Track “Electric Ladyland” Double LP – Possibly Unplayed
A possibly unplayed UK Stereo Track pressing of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 2 LP masterpiece, Electric Ladyland, on Track Records (613 008).
This is one of the best copies we’ve seen of this essential 1968 album, with both discs in Mint Condition without a single spindle mark on any of the four labels (there is one barely visible superficial scuff on one disc, probably from the manufacturing process; the albums look unplayed) . The cover is beautiful, with some lamination creases as commonly found, and a small scratch in the lower left corner of the back. This copy has the second label variation, with “Two Record Set” printed on the labels (oddly enough, probably more scarce than the earlier version without this.) Prior to the advent of Popsike, any black label Track “Electric Ladyland” was considered a first pressing and we consider this simply a slightly later variant. This has the original white writing inside; the “blue type” variant is nothing more than a printing error hyped by unscrupulous or misinformed sellers. At the bottom of the gatefold inside is the number 2657 001, which appears below the “Two Record Set” citation on the label (though the catalog number is, as on all Track pressings, 613 008.) A beautiful copy of an essential album that you’ll never need to upgrade.
For obsessives like ourselves, read our essay on why the white type is the original variation, and the much hyped Blue Type “first printing” is nothing more than a printing error, here ( http://recordmecca.com/news/jimi-hendrixs-electric-ladyland-exposing-the-blue-type-hype/ )
