Jimi Hendrix – Original Tribute LP Artwork by Jim Marshall
The actual Jim Marshall photograph of Jimi Hendrix used for the album cover of "Stone Free" A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix" issued by Reprise Records in 1993. This album featured Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Slash, Buddy Guy, members of Soundgarden & Pearl Jam (as MACC), The Cure, and many more playing the songs of Hendrix.(br)Recordmecca's Jeff Gold was one of the producers of this album, as well as its art director, and this has been in his collection since the album's creation. The print is 8" x 10" and was made specifically by Jim Marshall to be used for this album's cover art. The photo shows Hendrix in Golden Gate park, just after his US Debut at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. The background of the photograph was electronically retouched out for the album cover, so the artists' names could be put in the background. While visiting Warner Bros, Marshall signed and dated this print for Gold, who he gave it to.(br)The print is in perfect condition, and rests on a piece of art board, unattached but held in place by clear acetate squares (easily removable.) There are art department notes on the art board.(br)The print is framed in a custom made museum-quality welded aluminum frame.(br)Gold will write a letter of authenticity to the winning bidder, and as with everything we offer, this is guaranteed authentic without time limit.
