Jimi Hendrix – 1st Printing ’68 Shrine Concert Poster Signed by John Van Hamersveld
An extremely rare first-printing of John Van Hamersveld’s classic concert poster advertising a February, 1968 show by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Soft Machine, Electric Flag and Blue Cheer at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. This highly sought after poster is in near mint condition, with no fading or toning, and is signed boldly by Van Hamersveld.
We have never had a copy of this rarity that wasn’t toned or faded, nor a signed one; this example is in truly exceptional condition. When we acquired the poster, it was framed and hanging in a dark recording studio. The studio owner explained that Van Hamersveld was visiting a band there many years ago, and surprised to see an original printing of his poster, offered to sign it (something he charges a considerable amount for today.) The dark studio and framing protected the poster, which is in superb condition. It is mounted on a one millimeter thick art board, which we have not attempted to remove. There is a tiny chip to the top right corner, and a few extremely tiny areas of wear to the edges. By far the nicest example of this highly collectible poster we’ve ever seen. 19 1/2″ x 27 5/8″. Art of Rock plate # 3.72.
