An incredibly rare 1963 boxing-style cardboard concert poster for the legendary John Coltrane at Shelly's Manne Hole in Los Angeles. These December dates follow by 3 weeks Coltrane's New York's shows captured on his album "Live at Birdland !" (which All Music Guides calls "arguably Coltrane's finest all-around album.") His quartet at this time was his finest band, featuring McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. This 14" x 22" poster, from drummer Shelly Manne's club, is one of only two Coltrane boxing-style posters we know of. In excellent condition, with a bit of ink smudging, this is as rare and desirable as it gets !
