John Coltrane – 1966 Coltrane Owned Grammy Nomination Plaque
John Coltrane’s own Grammy Award Nomination Plaque for his acclaimed masterpiece, “A Love Supreme.” Coltrane never won a Grammy during his lifetime, but was nominated twice, both times in 1965. This plaque was awarded to John Coltrane for his “Best Original Jazz Composition” nomination for “A Love Supreme” (he also received a nomination for “Best Jazz Performance: Small Group or Soloist.”) This award was originally sold by the Coltrane family in the legendary 2005 Guernsey’s Jazz Auction in New York City, so the provenance is impeccable. It measures 8 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ x 1/2″ and is in excellent condition. We’re proud to offer this extraordinary John Coltrane collectible, owned by the jazz legend himself, for his most important and acclaimed work. With a copy of the Guernsey’s Auction catalog page featuring the plaque, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
