John Coltrane – Personal Downbeat Reader’s Poll Award
John Coltrane’s own Downbeat Reader’s Poll Award for First Place in the Tenor Saxophone catagory, awarded to Coltrane in 1966. This award was originally sold by the Coltrane family in the legendary 2005 Guernsey’s Jazz Auction in New York City, so the provenance is impeccable. Made of solid wood with a brass musical note and engraved plate, it measures 6 1/4″ x 10″ x 1″, and is in very good condition, with some minor dings. We’re proud to offer this extraordinary John Coltrane collectible, owned by the jazz legend himself. With a copy of the Guernsey’s Auction catalog page featuring the award, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
