John Lee Hooker – 1st Pressing “Plays & Sings The Blues” Chess LP

A first pressing copy of John Lee Hooker’s 1961 album “Plays & Sings The Blues” on Chess Records.  This example is in Near Mint/Near Mint condition; extremely rare for an early Chess album.  The laminated cover–one of Chess art director Don Bronstein’s best–is bold and bright, with a tiny stamped “c”, and one ink notation next to a song title.  The disc looks barely played.  The nicest copy we’ve seen of this rare and highly collectible blues classic.
