Johnny Cash & June Carter – Signed Music Publishing Contract
A five page music publishing agreement, initialed on the first page and fully signed on the final page by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, along with a three page copy of a letter outlining Cash and Carter’s music publishing interests.
The contract, dated December 17, 1986, authorizes music publishing executive Jay Landers to broker a sale of Cash and Carter’s music publishing companies, House of Cash, Song of Cash, and Family of Man Music, Inc. If he succeeds, it outlines the finders fee his company will be entitled to (based on the amount the companies are sold for.) Cash and Carter signed the agreement, but just before Landers signed, Carter and Cash changed their minds, and the agreement was withdrawn. Also included is a three page letter from an attorney involved in the deal, outlining the recent history of Cash and Carter’s publishing interests.
