Joni Mitchell – 1968 ‘Song to a Seagull’ Album Cover Proof, Without Song Titles

A rare album cover proof for Joni Mitchell’s 1968 debut album, Song to a Seagull (also known as Joni Mitchell.)

Created by the Warner Bros Records art department prior to the album’s release, this does not include the song titles in the green rectangle–they likely had not been finalized when this was prepared.   A bit more of Joni’s artwork can be seen on the edges than is visible on the finished album cover.  A very small number of these would have been made for the label and Mitchell and her management to approve.

27 1/2″ x 15″, in excellent condition, with a vertical fold down the midline, likely made so the front and back cover could be visualized, some minor creasing, and a very small area of missing paper on the bottom left edge, barely noticeable and not affecting the image.  This will frame beautifully.

A rare Joni Mitchell artifact from the beginning of her recording career.
