Joni Mitchell – Signed 1998 Lithograph of Daughter Kiluaren Gibb
A hand signed lithograph by Joni Mitchell, gifted by Mitchell to a close personal friend. The lithograph is a portrait of her long lost daughter, Kilauren Gibb and her birth father, Brad MacMath. Mitchell gave up her only child for adoption near the time of her birth, something she regretted for many years. Her song “Little Green” on the classic album Blue was written about her daughter, with whom she was finally reunited in 1997 (more here: http://jonimitchell.com/library/view.cfm?id=109). Mitchell has signed and dated the print 1998 (’98), and designated it an Artist’s Proof (A.P.) in pencil. Note that it dates from only a year after Joni’s reunion with Kilauren.
Mitchell occasionally made lithographs to give to friends as holiday gifts, and on very rare occasion offered them for sale. We can find no other example of this print online, and don’t know the edition size was, or if it ever made it beyond the proof stage.
18″ x 22 3/4″, in virtually mint condition, with small pieces of archival tape on the back from a previous framing. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
