Joy Division – 1980 UK 12″ Test Pressing “Transmission”, From Manager Rob Gretton’s Collection
An ultra rare UK 12″ test pressing of Joy Division’s Factory Records debut single, “Transmission/Novelty”, from the collection of Joy Division/New Order manager Rob Gretton (1953-1999).
This 12″ is the earliest pressing from 1980, and is in Near Mint condition. The band name and title are written in an unknown hand on the original sleeve, and the catalog number, FAC 13, is written on the B-Side label. The matrix numbers read:
- side A: FAC 13 (12″) A1 EG A PORKY PRIME CUT I’VE SEEN THE REAL ATROCITIES Lyn 8858
- side B): FAC 13 (12″) B1 EG A PORKY PRIME CUT BURIED IN THE SAND Lyn 8858
This 12″ was part of Rob Gretton’s personal collection, and we obtained it directly from his partner, Lesley Gilbert. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity, noting the EP’s extraoradinary provenance.
