Keith Haring – Original Silkscreen Print Of “A Very Special Christmas” Album Artwork

An original silkscreen print by legendary artist Keith Haring, made to promote the 1987 charity fundraiser album A Very Special Christmas.

A Very Special Christmas was the brainchild of record producer (and now head of Apple Music) Jimmy Iovine, conceived as a memorial for his father, and to raise funds the Special Olympics.  The first album, released in 1987 featured artists including Bruce Springsteen, Sting, U2, Madonna and Run-DMC performing Christmas songs. In the years since, nine more albums have been released in the series, overall raising over $100 million for the Special Olympics.

Keith Haring created the iconic artwork used on every album in the series.  Recordmecca owner Jeff Gold, then vice president of creative services at A&M Records,  was an art director for the project.  Working with Haring’s office, he commissioned these silkscreen prints, which were given to the project’s participants and used as promotional giveaways. Approximately 300 were made, with Haring signing 100 (this is one of the unsigned examples, but still very rare.)

18 1/4″ x 22″ and in near mint condition. With Jeff Gold’s signed letter of authenticity, and Recordmecca’s lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
