Killed By Death – Various Punk Artists – Killed By Death #1 Original Album Artwork

A truly unique Killed By Death (KBD)collectible–the ORIGINAL hand drawn/handmade front and back cover artwork for the legendary punk compilation album, KILLED BY DEATH (#1.) We obtained this directly from Johan Kugelberg, originator of the KBD series, in who's collection it had been carefully stored since this influential album's 1989 release. At our request, Johan authenticated the artwork, writing on the back of the front cover art "Drawn by my old friend David (Nessle) in the spring of 1988, pressed as a 500-copy edition by another friend in the NYC-summer of 1988, I compiled the comp at the age of 22 as an homage of sorts to another friend; the name was a reference to the Back From The Grave comps. Compiling 70's punk rarities was his idea, collecting them obsessively originated with Tesco Vee. His 1984 MRR article blew my fragile little mind. NYC 6/2011. Johan Kugelberg. On the edge he wrote "Art By David Nessle." Nessle is a Swedish comic creator/artist, and Tesco Vee the co-founder of the Touch and Go Records zine. MRR is the zine Maximum Rocknroll. The front cover artwork measures 11 1/2" square, and is beautifully hand drawn and lettered on art paper; the back cover artwork is 12 1/4" square with hand lettering and a xeroxed collage. Both are in overall excellent condition. We're also including here a latter day copy of KBD #1 (with slightly different track listing, omitting the Beastie Boys, perhaps to avoid lawsuits ?) There are many rare KBD records, but this is a truly one-of-a-kind KBD collectible. Imagine how great this will looked framed on your wall.
