Jimi Hendrix – Previously Unknown 1967 Handbill For Cleveland’s La Cave

An extremely rare handbill for Cleveland’s La Cave club, featuring their schedule for July and August 1967 , including concerts by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Tim Buckley, Dave Van Ronk, The James Cotton Blues Band, Janis Ian, and the Jim Kweskin Jug Band.

While this previously unknown handbill notes undocumented Hendrix dates, the band didn’t end up playing La Cave.  Their debut album, Are You Experienced was released in the United States at the end of August 1967, and instead they appeared at the Salvation Club in New York City on these dates—clearly a more important media market.  As Hendrix was virtually unknown at the time, this handbill misspells Hendrix’s first name.

This comes from a small La Cave archive we purchased, and on the back is handwritten settlement notes for a show by Dave Van Ronk (‘The Mayor of Greenwich Village’ and a Bob Dylan influence). 8 1/2” x 11”, in very good condition with a pair of staple holes at top.
