Led Zeppelin – 1969 1st Pressing Debut LP, With Turquoise Lettering, Uncorrected Matrixes, Superhype Credits

A very rare UK first pressing of Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album, with the earliest turquoise lettering, grey stripe along the bottom, uncorrected matrixes and Superhype publishing credits.

Soon after the release of this album, the album cover type was changed from turquoise to the familiar orange, the grey line removed, the matrix numbers were “corrected” with crossing out and hand etching, and the publishing credits changed.  But this is the highly sought after earliest pressing.  The fully laminated cover grades EX with some lamination creasing on the right side of the blimp and bottom left corner, and some lamination lifting along the spine on both back and front.  The surface of the disc is very clean with no significant issued, and grades NM-; the labels too are very clean, but upon close inspection under a bright light show numerous spindle marks on both sides.  The disc plays beautifully, with just a minimal bit of light surface noise at the beginning of “You’re Time is Gonna Come” on Side 2.  With the correct poly lined innersleeve (patent No 800513 973939).

  • Matrix / Runout (Runout A): 588171 A//1
  • Matrix / Runout (Runout B): 588171 B//1 1

A scarce and highly sought after album.
