Love – Signed Contract Ammendment For 1st Album

A 1965 Elektra Records contract amendment signed by Love, from before the recording of their debut album. Band members Arthur Lee, Bryan MacLean, Ken Forssi and Johnny Echols agree to accept $250 each upon signing their recording agreement, and further agree that these payments and their union scale payments shall be deductible from their $5,000. advance (ie, they were paid a total of $5,000. to sign to Elektra, and each got $250 up front, union scale while recording, and the balance upon the completion of their first record.) This historic document marks the beginning of one of the great psychedelic rock bands of all time. It dates from the period where Ken Forssi had joined on bass, drummer Don Conka had been booted out, and drummer Snoopy Pfistirer had not yet joined (at least as a full band member.) This contract came from the collection of Herb Cohen, the band's original manager and longtime manager of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, and features the only set of signatures of the original lineup of Love we've ever seen. As with everything we offer, it is guaranteed authentic without time limit. (Arthur Lee has traced over his signature; evidently the first pen he used wasn't working properly.)
